How I ended up in Bulgaria and discovered yoga for the first time

Written by: Meghan Brixie

One day my boyfriend approached me with an offer to work at a film studio in Bulgaria. I accepted the offer without any hesitation.

I wanted a new experience, something I would always remember. Little did I know I would be immersing myself into the world of yoga.

I started working at Nu Boyana Studios about two weeks ago. Coming here I didn’t really have any knowledge about film or yoga, everything was new to me.

I never knew what yoga was exactly. The only knowledge I had of it was people doing weird poses.

Working on the yoga shoots for Udaya, and just being around all the yogis has shown me what yoga really is.

Yoga is a community. People from all over the world have come to Bulgaria to share their passion for yoga. I have met many amazing people from California, UK, France and Germany!

They have made me want to start doing yoga. From what I have seen, yoga is more than just a type of exercise. Yoga can help with stress and anxiety, but it can also help relieve back pain. Those are just some of the benefits but I learn more and more everyday.

And what I have also come to realize is that it doesn’t matter who you are, anyone can do it.

I have seen people of all ages come together from yoga. It has inspired me to start a healthier lifestyle from just being here. Personally, I feel yoga is the perfect first step. I’m eager to continue on this Bulgarian yoga journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
