Hello and Season's GreetingsIt's the end of the year again, and we really really urge you to take a few moments out of your busy pre-Xmas day and read our latest stories. If you don't find yourself smiling once after reading all the way down, call us and we will profusely apologise and do our best to find another better way to tickle your funny bone. Note that we are NOT comedians - we are website designers, but still - we hope a smile is on the cards for you in the next few minutes. We also want to say "MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR" to all you lovely people! Aww! In This Issue:
Opening/Closing for Xmas Top Left Design Opening/Closing HoursWe will be recharging our batteries from 5pm on the 23rd December 2008 until 9am on the 5th of January 2009.
We used to go for a lot of staff lunches quite often, but with people "tightening their belts" we thought we could try a more economical and fun idea. We call it "Make My Lunch" - and we recommend all of you with more than 1 person in your company try it. The idea is simple but brilliant. We scheduled 5 days in November/December where one of us made lunch for everyone else.
First up was Nick (who is our intern) and he made Mexican food - tortillas with guacamole and pico de gallo and cheese. Yum! Then Amy made an amazing jambalaya. Anine made pita with chicken and vegetables and that was absolutely delicious. Keren was next - and cooking isn't something she does very often - but she rolled up her sleeves and made a chilled gaspacho, toasted pita with olives, cheese and tomato, and a banana cake. Gemma was last (but not least), and this week will be making an Xmas lasagne. Recipes are available on request! Here is a poem about Make My Lunch which we hope will inspire you to try it yourselves. We are in the middle of the "credit crunch" Gemma joins Athena
Gemma only joined us in September, and already we wonder how we ever did without her. She brings with her a flair not only for design and project management, but also enjoys networking! Keren and Gemma attended the Athena Knightsbridge launch event and were so impressed, we signed Gemma up as a member, and she will be attending the lunch every month. If you would like to attend an Athena lunch as a visitor, email Gemma to arrange! Don't forget that Keren already is a member of BNI Mayfair, NRG and Business Junction, not to mention of course Ecademy and LinkedIn - and of course the entire Top Left Design team are on Facebook. So it is safe to say that we are no strangers to networking and it actually courses through our veins here at Top Left Design. Who won the survey prize? This autumn we setup a survey on our website and the results were veeeeery interesting. We found that many people want us to continue sending our newsletter (whew!) but on special occasions only. As a reward we offered a prize for a randomly selected person who gave a great answer to the last question "why should we include you in our next newsletter". Our winner this time was Michael Brewer from Clerestorey, a management consultant. He gets a mention in THIS newsletter - see our special designed banner for him below - he just wanted to send more good vibes to you all! 2008 ProjectsFor the last few years we have created a visual thumbnail montage to show all the different projects we have worked on during the year. We have counted 88 website projects in addition to other projects - e-newsletters, blogs, business cards, brochures, flyers, menus, postcards and logos. There is really no better way to illustrate this then if you view our montage of screenshots! Blogs and Search Engine Marketing
