Top Left Design Oyster Card Holders

One of the first jobs we got our newest team member, Aric to do, was make our very own Oyster card holders. We want poeple who commute in London to think of us every single day and the ones that they give you when you sign up for Oyster card holders are just so BORING looking. And we want to make sure we included owls (some of you already know the 3 reasons why we use owls in our branding – but if not – read this post!)

Michael wins at Startup Weekend London

Winning

A couple of weeks ago, I won a ticket to attend “Startup Weekend London” – a 54 hour ‘hackathon’ event at Google’s new Campus co-working space in Shoreditch – and won!

Our team of 4 went up against 140 other participants to conceive, plan, and create a start-up over a long weekend of designing and coding, to be pitched to and judged by a selection of top-dogs in the tech world, such as Eze Vidra of Google, Jemimah Knight of The Next Web, and Philipp Moehring of Seedcamp.

The idea we came up with was ‘pollarize.me’, a social polling tool which allows people to create questions with 2 possible answers, push the question out to all of their social networks, and gather feedback and results in one place, visually represented by a pie chart. (more…)

4 years and counting…

Top Left Design – what a place to work! I’ve enjoyed myself so much that I have stayed for 4 years… and counting.

I started working with Keren and Top Left Design back in December 2007 and although I left the UK offices over 2 years ago I am still a proud TLDer.

Keren decided that in light of my 4 year anniversary she would treat me to SPA DAY, and although she couldn’t join me I would be accompanied by her most lovely cousin Gabriella Sholk.

Our Spa Day was at the lovely Cayenne Spa which is part of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.

Tina Webster Illustration blog's about our "Owls" Pinterest board

You may have seen Keren’s blog post about Pinterest last week. Well over the weekend I blogged about her “Owl” board and found some inspiration for my first illustration of 2012.

Here are a few of my favorite “owly” delights from Keren’s Pinterest board.

Ever wanted to spend 1 hour at Top Left Design, but really only had 2.5 minutes?

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Today, Michael put up his iPhone 4S with Olloclip fisheye lens up on our office door using a Gorrillapod and Glif+ mount to hold it in place.

Then he took a timelapse movie of us working away like the busy bees that we are. We also wanted to send a special mention to Amy who works in our Cape Town Office and hasn’t physically been in our new London office yet.

We did have time to wave at all you lovely folk. It’s good to be famous! Check out the video. it’s truly awesome!

And here is a picture of the kit!

Michael’s Movember 2011 Roundup – More Moustache Memoirs

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

By now you must all be aware of Movember – it’s been hard to ignore this year, thanks to a great marketing campaign, fantastic use of social media to increase involvement, and all the dodgy moustaches you’ve been seeing for the last month!

In case you’ve been living under a rock though, Movember is an annual charity challenge, whereby men grow a moustache in order to raise money for Prostate Cancer.
